Class Christmas Parties

Abby and Sam had their class Christmas parties on Dec. 17, and Cody and Lauren had theirs on Dec. 18th. It worked really great because it worked out for Rick and me to attend their parties. Rick went to Sam's party. They did many fun things. They decorated a stocking and a cookie. They played a couple of games: snowball picking and "hot" santa hat. They also did a book exchange(Sam got a Boxcar Children book) and had a little Christmas feast. Everything he does this year is a first for him, and he is loving that.

You will notice that there are no pictures of Abby's party. I was rushing to get there and forgot my camera. Many moms were taking pics, and I hope to get some from them. For, now we will have to imagine Abby decorating a cookie, making a snowman necklace and snowman picture frame, and doing a book exchange. I was really glad that I could be there and see her in her classroom. Pics to follow.

Lauren's class did a snowman relay, decorated a pine cone for the birds and did a white elephant gift exchange. Of course it all ended with lots of yummy food.

As the kids get older, it seems that their parties get more "mature." I left total chaos in Lauren's class and arrived to a very relaxed environment in Cody's room. They had some Christmas music playing, they were eating snacks, and they were all making potholders. There also weren't many moms helping. When moms did arrive, it seemed that most of the kids tried to act like they weren't there. It is funny to see them grow up and "be cool." Cody actually seemed glad that I came. He interacted with me. That was nice. They did end the time with a relay, but all in all it was pretty low key.
You can see Cody's potholder on the floor next to him.
