The Next Generation

It’s hard to believe that this coming summer will be the ten-year anniversary of Rick’s first trip to Swaziland, Africa.  Our family is drastically different from that first trip.  Isaiah and Laila have been with us for 7 years, and each of our children has had the opportunity to travel to Swaziland.  As a family, this calling has become a part of who we are.

We are so excited about all that God has done in us and through YOU to invest into the people of Swaziland. Almost 100 people have traveled with us since that first trip and many have returned.

This year’s trip will be June 11th through June 22, 2016. We are in the process of putting together this year’s team and wanted to invite each of you to “come along” with us through your prayers and support.  We are looking forward to seeing who God will bring with us this year.  Lauren and Abby are both feeling called to go back to Swaziland on this trip.  It has been several years since each of them has gone and their hearts are being pulled back once again.  They are both currently working to raise the funds to go. We are also seeing God send several other teenagers on this trip.  It is so encouraging to see Him raising up the next generation with a heart for this amazing country.  It is especially dear to our hearts to see God put a passion for the mission of Beyond Survival in the hearts of our kids and their friends.

Lauren shares:

I am extremely excited to be going back to Swaziland; I first went in 2011 and the trip really impacted me. Since then I have prayed and really felt the need to go on this next trip. I've always wanted to go back because it is such an amazing experience. I look forward to going to the care points and orphanages and being able to help others in need. I'm so excited to have this opportunity, and I pray that God will use me in incredible ways to serve others in Swaziland. Some of the ways that I am currently earning money for my trip are: Babysitting and dog walking, but I am also looking for other opportunities to earn money.

Abby shares:
I want to go back to Swaziland because I want to be able to help children there.  I have wanted to go back since I went for the first time in 2013.   Every year since I have been I have asked to go. This year I have the opportunity of going. When I go I want to go back to the Halfway House(orphanage where Isaiah and Laila were) and ABC (Abandoned Babies Home) and visit the children there. I also want to go to a Care Point and help the children there. Some ways I am working to earn money is cleaning houses, dog walking and babysitting, and I am willing to do more work for money towards my trip. I am so excited to have this opportunity to go help in Swaziland, and am looking forward to serving God through this trip.

The trip cost per person is $3,950.  We are working towards raising this money and are so grateful for any investment that you want to make to send us on this mission.  We realize that not everyone can go, but you can still be a part of the work that God is doing.  There are three different tax deductible ways you can donate. You can make checks payable to “Mountain Springs Church” with “Swaziland-Clapp Fam” in the memo, and mail to:
Mountain Springs Church

 7345 Adventure Way
Colorado Springs, CO  80923

You can also go to www.mountainsprings.org , choose “Giving” and “give one-time gift.”  Once you are on the giving page, you “choose designation” to donate money to the “Clapp Family – Swazi Trip” account.  The other option is to go to www.beyondsurvival.org , choose the “Give” link and click on “One Time Donation.”

We believe this year is a special year and we want to say, “Thank You!”  We are so grateful for you, your passion for Swaziland, and your love for us and our family.  Thanks for creating an opportunity for people in Swaziland to live Beyond Survival.
