Once again, it was time for the annual pumpkin carving in our house. I made the mistake of waiting until the day before Halloween to get a pumpkin. As a result, there were no pumpkins left in this town other than some really small pie pumpkins. So, I decided to buy 2, one for the girls, and one for the boys. Since Pumpkin Carving is such a mess and involves knives, we decided to do it while Isaiah and Laila napped. Rick is pretty much in charge of this event. I let him lead the children. This year he decided he would let them do the carving under his supervision, of course. Everyone came out with all limbs still intact, thank goodness.
The big kids decided they wanted to make a competition out of this year's event. So they went to work.

Sam enjoyed cutting up the leftover pumpkin pieces with a plastic knife(This kid is fascinated by knives. Not sure how I feel about that)

The winning pumpkin - Mr. Candy - each cut out part represented a different kind of candy

The boys' pumpkin - no theme, "we just carved," Cody said.

We decided that the smaller pumpkins were actually better than the bigger ones. Next year, I think we will get each kid a small one and let them loose. Who knows what kind of creation we will end up with? Of course, we ended the time by eating the baked seeds.
